If you want to hang with some groovy English speaking monks you may wish to check out Wat Umong in Chiang Mai There is also an International Buddhists Association building thingie in BKK accessible by skytrain which is a sorta clearing house for sanghas – it’s listed in your Lonely Planet somewhere – and they can hook you up with some English speaking monks.
