Weathermen are not climate scientists

Weathermen, no matter how famous, are not climate scientists. That makes them unqualified to challenge the science of climate change, especially if they aren’t publishing in peer-reviewed literature.

It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create an illusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the “research” to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus. -John Coleman founder of the Weather Channel

The media probably wont pay much attention to the ramblings of John Coleman, and there is a good reason why: as a weatherman he is unqualified to challenge the science of climate change, he isn’t publishing in peer-reviewed literature, and presents no data to back up his claims.

UPDATE:

Asking a meteorologist to opine on the climate — or even the cause of recent extreme weather – is like asking your family doctor what the chances are for an avian flu pandemic in the next few years or asking a mid-West sheriff the prospects for nuclear terrorism. The answer might be interesting, but not one I’d like to stake my family’s life on.

  1. Hey Dan: Did you check out the latest report from the IPCC? I figure it spells the beginning of the end for the denial charlatans by letting the other shoe drop – adapting to what’s coming regardless of what we do at this point to slash GHG emissions. That’s a debate we haven’t had yet in this country although the topic has been pretty thoroughly canvassed by the Pentagon and the British MoD. Once we begin to look at what’s already happening and what will come even within the next decade, this will go from a conveniently hypothetical debate to a real, live, “do something now” discussion. We can either wrap our heads around it or wait for it to wrap itself around our heads.
