Emissions cuts possible without damaging economy

Maybe it’s to late top archive this by the Kyoto deadline of 2012, but what about after kyoto?

Canada could reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 60 per cent by 2050 using existing technology and without hurting the economy, said a study from an arms-length federal agency. –CBC

If this can be done with current technology, just imagine what we will be able to do with future technology.

These results were not only limited to Canada.

Oil and electricity consumption across the world could easily be cut by half, with major benefits for the environment, if clean energy technologies that are currently available were applied, an international watchdog said. –physorg.com

This focus on technology is not a substitute for absolute caps for emission, such as the ones imposed by the Kyoto accord.
