Climate change solved by legislators

Global warming has been legislated out of existence:

House Republicans rejected amendments offered Tuesday by Democrats that called on Congress to accept the scientific consensus that climate change is occurring, it is caused in large part by human activity and it is a threat to human health.

The amendments, offered at an Energy and Commerce Committee markup of legislation to block Environmental Protection Agency climate change rules, are part of an effort by House Democrats to get Republicans on the record on climate science.

Committee ranking Democrat Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) offered an amendment Tuesday that called on Congress to agree that climate change is occurring. The amendment failed on a party-line vote of 20-31. No Republicans voted for the amendment

House Republicans also rejected an amendment offered by Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) Tuesday that called on Congress to accept the scientific consensus that climate change is occurring in large part due to human activity. The amendment failed in a 21-30 party-line vote. No Republicans voted in favor of the amendment

Rep. Jay Inslee (D-Wash.) offered a third amendment that says human-caused climate change is a threat to public health and welfare. That amendment also failed on a party-line vote of 21-31.

Republicans, in response to the amendments, took issue with climate science Tuesday.

Now if only those pesky ice sheets would play along.

  1. If you blinked you might have missed it.

There was an anti-science revolution. In the halls of power reason has been usurped and replaced with … well I don’t actually know what you’d call it, but it’s sort of fuzzy and insidious and bloody dangerous, oh yes, loves guns and invasions and is very, very religious.

    1. The good news is that in the end reality always wins… lets hope we figure that out before reality really smacks us around for divorcing it.

  2. I just watched Gasland last night – that mixed with this just leaves me utterly perplexed at the sheer audacity and lack of reverence for any life by those in the oil and gas industries. i can only assume it is those people behind this vote.

    1. I haven’t seen Gasland, and admit to not looking into the fracking issue very deeply, so for now when ever I read the word fracking I think of Battlestar Galactica. The fact that gas companies are tarnishing the word frak is reason enough for me to oppose it:)
