Well at least now it is official.
Philip Cooney, former chief of staff at the White House Council on Environmental Quality [former energy industry lobbyist, and currently with ExxonMobil], acknowledged at a House hearing that some of the changes he made were “to align these communications with the administration’s stated policy” on climate change…
“Interference with communications of science to the public has been greater during the current administration than at any time in my career,” said Hansen, who was one of the first to raise the problem of climate change in the 1980s.
The Bush administration ran a systematic campaign to play down the dangers of climate change, demanding hundreds of politically motivated changes to scientific reports and muzzling a pre-eminent expert on global warming, Congress was told yesterday…
Mr Cooney told the committee yesterday: “My sole loyalty was to the president and advancing the policies of his administration.”
I guess loyalty to the president is more important than being truthful.
Those pesky facts are always getting in the way of the administrations stated policy.
